BUPA Sponsors The Great Winter Run
BUPA is the largest of the UK medical insurance companies, and since 2001 has donated more than £820,000 to over 300 charities, thanks to staff fundraising efforts. The company itself sponsors the Great Run Series which is a programme of running events for the whole year. At the moment the nominated charity for this is Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The next event will be the Bupa Great Winter Run which will take place on Saturday 10th January 2009 in Holyrood Park in Edinburgh. The course is 5km and runners of all abilities are welcome to enter if they are aged 14 or over. There is also a 2.5km event for 7-13 year olds which starts off the morning. If you enter today or tomorrow you can make the most of the £19 early bird entry fee and also be entered in a prize draw to win a number of leisure prizes including a pair of tickets for the Rugby League Magic Weekend Games. The deadline for entry is the 4th of January. What a way to burn off the excesses of the Christmas holidays!
Entrants receive a t-shirt in addition to a finisher’s pack and medal when they complete the run. This year, runners can also see their name printed in the paper. The Edinburgh Evening News, the official newspaper for the Bupa Great Winter Run, will be printing souvenir supplements so you can have a souvenir of the day and perhaps see your photo in the paper!
