New Bupa Wellness Centre

Bupa, currently the top provider of private medical insurance in the UK, have opened a new health and wellness centre in the West Midlands. This centre is in Solihul and it is reported that there a plans to open other state-of-the-art sites across the UK.

There are currently 50 Wellness Centres across the UK and they are designed to offer sophisticated screening and health checks. The services that each centre offer vary however. For examle, London, Fleet Street offers:

-Health assessments
-Physiotherapy services
-Dental services
-Private GP and nurse services
-Heart scanning
-Bowel scanning

But Manchester on the other hand only offers:

-Heart scanning
-Bowel scanning

In contrast, the newest centre in Solihul offers many services:

-Health assessments
-Health at work
-Heart scanning
-Bowel scanning
-Physiotherapy services
-Dental services
-Facial aesthetics
-Flu vaccinations
-Healthy weight
-Nutrition
-Movers and shapers
-APOS® - treatment for knee, lower back, hip and ankle problems
-Private GP services

In the last decade the emphasis in private medicine is moving towards wellness and prevention. Private health insurance companies have also been moving in this direction, with PruHealth Vitality for example, offering reduced premiums when their clients use a range of screening tests and preventative measures. The Wellness part of Bupa's business is separate from their private health insurance services.
