PruHealth's Cancer Care

The health insurance company, PruHealth has one of the most comprehensive cancer care covers in the UK. With cancer care becoming more and more expensive many health insurers are struggling to keep up with their customers expectations. PruHealth, on the other hand, look after their customers right through to any palliative care they may need if their cancer cannot be cured.

A condition which has no cure is known as a 'chronic' condition. Cancer that cannot be cured could be labelled as a chronic condition. However PruHealth do not treat is as an exclusion to their policy. Additionally PruHealth cover cancer on all of their plans which is unusual in the health insurance world.

Will PruHealth always cover cancer treatment?
No, if you have a pre-existing condition you may not be able to get full cover with PruHealth. This applies to all private health insurance. Any pre-existing condition will be excluded from cover.

Is there an upper limit for treatment costs?
No all treatments can be fully funded even when you have upper outpatient limits these will not apply to your cancer cover.

Can I have alternative treatments?
No treatment is automatically excluded. Decisions are evidence based and include complimentary treatments. Even experimental treatments can be used providing they have supportive evidence. Usually however Pruhealth use the NICE ( National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) guidelines which have been approved for use in the NHS. Counselling is also included as a treatment.

I have cancer in the family. Will this be taken into account?
No PruHealth do not take into consideration any family history of cancer. This includes if you have had genetic testing which is currently excluded from being taken into account by any insurance policy.
