The BUPA Health of the Nation Survey for 2008 looked at the top ten reasons for people taking out private medical insurance. I have included the results for 2007 too so that you can see changes over time.

It is interesting to note that over the period on one year concerns over cleanliness in hospitals has gone up by 8%! This could be linked to increased press coverage of super-bugs in the NHS.
